ALOXI (palonosetron HCI injection) is an antinausea medication also known as an antiemetic. In adults, ALOXI is used to help prevent symptoms of CINV in a single intravenous (IV) dose by blocking the effects of serotonin.
Depending on the type of chemotherapy you receive, your chance of experiencing CINV on the same day, known as acute CINV, can be very high. You may also experience delayed CINV in the days following your treatment. ALOXI is used to prevent both acute and delayed CINV in patients receiving moderately emetogenic chemotherapy and acute CINV in patients receiving highly emetogenic chemotherapy.
